Lights, Camera, Connect! Your next collaborator could be one conversation away. Join WIFVNE for an exciting evening of creative connection in Portland, Maine on Thursday, August 7th from 5-7 PM. (Location to be announced soon) Whether you’re a filmmaker, writer, producer, student, or industry ally, this event is your chance to connect with others shaping New England’s vibrant media landscape.

Hosted by WIFVNE Vice President and WIFT-US VP Wendy S. Wilkins with two outstanding Maine-based creatives as our special guests, Elizabeth Searle (Co-writer of I’LL SHOW YOU MINE (Duplass Brothers Productions), fiction author, playwright, and faculty at Stonecoast MFA.) and Allen Baldwin (Producer, Sundance Fellow, and co-founder of Damnationland film showcase.)

This is a casual, welcoming space for artists and media professionals to meet, share work, and spark collaborations. Open to all—no membership required.

SPECIAL GUESTS:
Elizabeth Searle is co-writer of the feature film I’LL SHOW YOU MINE (Duplass Brothers Productions, 2023), starring Poorna Jagannathan. The film was released in select theaters and is now widely available on home screens, including on AmazonPrime, Peacock and AppleTV.  Elizabeth is also the author of a rock opera and of 5 books of fiction, with a new book out in the Fall.  Her novel A FOUR-SIDED BED is in development as a feature film and is the basis of FOUR-SIDED, a short film that has screened at over 20 festivals.  She teaches fiction and scriptwriting at Stonecoast MFA (University of Southern Maine).  www.elizabethsearle.net

Born and raised in Norridgewock, Maine, Allen Baldwin has been putting together films with independent flair and a DIY attitude for over fifteen years. He attended Bowdoin College before moving to Portland, Maine, where he lives today. He is the co-founder of Damnationland, a long-running short dark genre film showcase of Maine filmmakers. Recently, he produced Derek Kimball’s feature film debut “Neptune,” which has screened at Slamdance, the Nashville Film Festival, the Atlanta Film Festival, and over a dozen other fests around the world. Allen was a Fellow at the Sundance Creative Producing Summit in 2017, and has an MFA in Scriptwriting from Stonecoast.
