WIFVNE presents "Light Attaching to a Girl" screening at StudioLab

WIFVNE co-presents the in-person screening of Light Attaching to a Girl

Purchase tickets.  A filmmaker networking and Q&A will follow the screening with Laina Barakat and Producer Karlina Lyons, and WIFVNE member Karin Trachtenberg whose short film Three A.M will be premiered.


Written and Directed by WIFVNE Member Laina Barakat. Producers Jennifer Latham and WIFVNE Members Laina Barakat and Karlina Lyons.  

About the film:  Suffocated by an overbearing father and two older sisters who soak up any attention that comes their way, Clare is desperate to escape. She plans a trip to Iceland by herself where she can experience nature, and make her own decisions for the first time in her life. LIGHT ATTACHING TO A GIRL poetically drifts between the interior and exterior life of an adolescent, as she reckons with haunting memories of her childhood even as she takes her first steps into adulthood. 62 minutes.  


About the film:  Two mothers grapple with the right way to protect their daughters from violence, internet predators, bowling parties and the evening news. 11 minutes. Website.

Written by Barbara Blumenthal-Ehlrich. Directed by WIFVNE Member Karin Trachtenberg. Starring Sara Burd and WIFVNE Member Julia Trueblood (who also serves as a producer). Additional WIFVNE Members on the crew:  Maddie Staszak AbrahamDirector of Photography, and Carolyn Latino, Production Assistant.
