Dawn Porter

Dawn Porter is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose work has appeared on HBO, PBS, Discovery, and Netflix among others. In 2020 during the pandemic, she released the acclaimed films John Lewis: Good Trouble, on the legacy of late Congressman John Lewis’ pivotal role in the Civil Rights movement and decades of political and social activism; and The Way I See It, about photojournalist Pete Souza, who served as Chief Official White House photographer for President Barack Obama.

Dawn Porter’s films have brought perspective in a time of uncertainty and shed light where Americans are seeking introspection, about the state of our democracy, and its cultural and political moment.
