For over 45 years Maine Media Workshops has drawn award-winning film and television professionals to teach at its coastal campus in Rockport, Maine. Alumni have won Oscars and Emmys for making game-changing films and shows like Birdman, The Revenant, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Citizenfour, and  Westworld.  At just one recent Academy Awards, Maine Media Workshops alumni won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Documentary Feature. 

Maine Media Workshops (MMW) offer hundreds of one week and multi-week classes.  MMW offers a wide range of classes on various topics and at all skill levels, from those filmmakers who are starting out or need to sharpen rusty skills or want to learn something new to experienced filmmakers who want a chance to play with the latest, most expensive toys.   Here’s small sample of the workshops and seminars being offered this summer and fall!

Directing with Oscar and Emmy-winning directors.  

Documentary with filmmakers for HBO, Vice News Tonight, Florentine Films, PBS, BBC, and 60 Minutes.

Film acting with the acting coach for Amy Adams, Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt, and Darren Aronofsky. 

Cinematography and editing classes taught by masters.

Screenwriting with a writer whose students have written chart-topping hit films and TV shows.

Creative sound design with an Oscar-winning sound designer.
